Description

This version of the flag is made from a heavy duty sewn nylon and is ideal for outdoor use as it is much more weather resistant than a silkscreen printed flag.

On June, 25th, 1978 the first original Pride flag was unveiled at the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Freedom Day Parade. In the days leading up to the parade, a group of 30 volunteers, led by Baker, gathered at the Gay Community Center in San Francisco to hand-dye and stitch rainbow flags for the parade. Little did they know they would be defining the modern LGBT2SQ+ movement. The original flag included eight colors, each with their own symbolic meaning. The design was later revised to remove two colors for expediency with the intent of adding those colors back when they became more widely available. This gave us the 6-stripe flag that is most commonly seen today.
